Nevertheless - in Rome: Total War, the Legionary Cavalry are a more powerful strain of the Roman Cavalry unit, able to take on almost any foe besides spearmen (which are of course a natural counter to any kind of cavalry). Rome Total War 2 Language Change
posted 22 August 2006 21:01 EDT (US) 1 / 14 No you can't. Only way to make generals younger is to make them start out young by modding. |
posted 22 August 2006 23:22 EDT (US) 2 / 14 so witch mod could i use and where would I find it? |
posted 22 August 2006 23:49 EDT (US) 3 / 14 Also put them in a city with good public health, they live longer Go Athens, 89 year old and counting... (__/)GOODBYE STEVE IRWIN RIP (O.o ) (> < ) No matter who you are, or where you from, or what language you speak, the story of the spartan and the fox is still pretty morbid. |
posted 23 August 2006 12:17 EDT (US) 4 / 14 i tried it it doesnt work it only mucks gameplay up by changing the genrals age also changes when the general got his traits and for sum reason it dnt change but the game goes wild and crashes lol only does it when i change age on charactors. If he had not fallen on the battlefield, the battle could not of been won....blood must be spilt before men lay claim to victory -stasonXI- http://wlserver1-en.gindis.com/modules.php?name=WLAccount&file=visitor&op=game&userid=MTM0OTc= |
posted 23 August 2006 14:07 EDT (US) 5 / 14 is there a mod u can use to change it? |
posted 23 August 2006 15:57 EDT (US) 6 / 14 You have to be quite careful when changing the ages. Like i said, a father (and mother!) must be at least 16 years older than their kids, and no two characters can have the same age. add the - show_err switch to the command line of the game to get a box to pop up telling you what you cocked up. |
posted 26 August 2006 19:23 EDT (US) 7 / 14 Sav have you ever changed a generals age sucsessfully? and is there a mod that allows you to change ages any1 noes about? [This message has been edited by BDdizzle (edited 08-26-2006 @ 10:01 PM).] |
posted 27 August 2006 00:34 EDT (US) 8 / 14 The short answer is no, you can't. The long answer, there should theorically be a way to hex edit the savegame. But then you would have to be a hacker. |
posted 27 August 2006 19:45 EDT (US) 9 / 14 any one ever got to 100 years old? once i got a brit gen to 95+ just leaving him in londinium. then i accidently erased the game...... would suck living your whole life in the same town |
posted 28 August 2006 03:12 EDT (US) 10 / 14 The oldest I have had is 91, but I have seen a screenshot of a 116 year old. I am also told that 130 years is the cutoff, where the age is reset to 0 but I can't prove it (127 would make more sense to me though). If you want to make generals younger, then they must be 16 years older than their sons. I don't think it's possible in campaign. posted 31 August 2006 15:31 EDT (US) 12 / 14 You can edit existing / add new generals in the descr_strat.txt file using any txt editor (ie notepad) However it is so easy to make a mistake you cant see I stongly advise against it. The First time I sucessfuly changed age took me about 2 hours, and even after knowing what I was doing took me about half hour or so because there are so many parameters and restrictions and there is no way to list them, and the only way to see if it worked is to run the program and let it crash... although admitedly I didnt know about the '-show_err' paramiter so that might make it a little less tedius. The best work-around would be to get the 4 turns per year download ; link at http://rtw.heavengames.com/cgi-bin/forums/display.cgi?action=ct&f=9,4118,10 thus effectively extending life-span. posted 31 August 2006 15:39 EDT (US) 13 / 14 why is it that your generals die from old age but your troops don't? |
posted 31 August 2006 19:02 EDT (US) 14 / 14 As eplaind when barbaian invasion (medival expansion) introduced generals dying (though they were replaced with a general of exact stats/traits) Troops are unkowns, thus older men would retire and be repaced without comment, generals are individuals and thus a general dying or being replaced would atleast deserve some comment. However instituting an atrition rate for units outside your area of influence WOULD be a very interesting idea, maybe look into a script to implement....
